Meet Amy — the Eye Behind ArtfulEye Studios
Hi, I'm Amy, and yes, that's a raccoon in my logo, holding a camera, and no, that was not an accident.
I've been a professional photographer for seven years, but the truth is I started long before anyone paid me for it. It began with my own kids’ recitals, birthday parties, the everyday chaos of a big family, and a camera I couldn't put down. Somewhere between chasing six daughters around and trying to catch the moment before the meltdown (or right after), I found I had a knack for it. Word got around, requests started coming in, and ArtfulEye Studios was born. These days, I specialize in dance/movement photography, portraits, and events.
Candid, not cookie-cutter. I don't do stiff, posed, everyone-say-cheese photography. I want your personality the real one, the slightly weird and wonderful one to come through in every shot. Whether it's a dance recital, a portrait session, or a big family event, I'm chasing genuine moments, not staged ones. My camera is where the photo actually gets made. Editing, for me, is just about making that real moment look crisp and professional not about filters, not about presets, and definitely not about turning you into someone you're not. Every photo I edit gets my personal attention, one at a time, because every shoot deserves that.
A nonprofit, on purpose. ArtfulEye Studios is a registered nonprofit in California, which means my mission isn't just to take great photos; it's to make sure professional photography isn't out of reach for families who need it most. I offer a sliding scale and scholarships, because every kid deserves to have their dance recital, their milestone, their story captured well, regardless of what their family can afford.
A little about the rest of my life, since you'll probably see it sneak into my work: I'm a fourth-generation Sacramentan, born and raised, now based in East Sacramento. At home, I'm outnumbered: six daughters, one husband, an English Bulldog, a black German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix, and a 25-pound orange cat who is convinced he runs the household (he might be right).
And about that raccoon. I picked him as my mascot because raccoons are everything I love: a little mischievous, a little misunderstood, endlessly curious, and completely themselves. That's exactly the energy I want in your photos, too not polished into blandness, just genuinely, unapologetically you.
Based in Sacramento, working across the greater Sacramento area, the Bay Area, and LA. Let's capture something real.
